Nobody’s life goes smoothly.

We all face tremendous challenges to our attitudes of mind.  Our feelings of self worth, of self confidence, even of self esteem, or self love are not constant.

If you sometimes feel beaten down by life, you are not alone.  You share these feelings with everyone else on the planet.

Sometimes, due to a combination of factors, we may reach a breaking point, a low point, that depletes our energy, our spirit, and our ability to find joy in life.  We think of giving up, of doing something to change our painful feelings, of taking drastic measures of separation, inflicting pain, even of thoughts of suicide.

Desperate thoughts which come from a mind feeling loneliness, separation, and pain are a normal human condition. Very few people live a full life without experiencing some feelings of desperation.

Be Here Now

You may have landed here, because you feel sad, angry, or fearful.  You may be feeling that you are not good enough, not worthy enough, not loved, or you may feel alone, tired, or hopeless.  I distinctly remember what it was like to feel all of these things, and to think that life was not worth living, and that it would never be better.

I’m writing this to you, as a friend, even though we may not know each other except in spirit.  I’m writing this for the same reason that I write everything I write…because I am inspired to do so, and I am trusting I’ll know what to say.

Here’s what I want you to know, from me to you, personally.  This is what has happened to me in my life, and what has happened to many others I have shared this information with.  This could be what’s happening to you.

A few years ago, I hit bottom…emotionally, physically, and spiritually.

There were a multitude of reasons which had snowballed into affecting everything in my life.

I had been very disappointed, felt betrayed, felt I had lost my hopes and dreams, and felt I could not keep motivating myself to make it better.

I no longer knew what to do or where to turn.  I felt disconnected from everything I had ever known, and everybody, including myself.  I couldn’t sleep, or focus, or function.  I didn’t feel I could share my feelings with anybody else, and I certainly didn’t know where to turn or where to start to help myself.

A little part of me wanted to get better, but I had no idea of what I needed to do.

I didn’t tell anybody what I was feeling, because I couldn’t express it.  I pushed people away who wanted to help.  I didn’t trust anyone, including myself.

I finally ended up in a hospital, but that didn’t help.  I sought professional and spiritual help, but even that wasn’t effective until later.

My perception of my life was not right, and I couldn’t figure out how to get it back.

What Comes First

You see, I had to help myself first.

I had to find a reason to believe that life is worth living.

When I did that, I began to heal, and out of the pain came an awesome gift.

I’m writing to you today, because of what happened to me, in hopes that in some small way I can help you. I’m going to share with you something which can help you take the first steps to help yourself.

I’ve always been interested in the brain, and read many books on the subject.  Thanks to new brain technology, we understand more than ever how the brain operates to influence our life experience.  Our brain needs help to stay balanced and functioning for our well being.

First, and foremost, I urge you to do what you need to do to give your brain what it needs to start perceiving correctly.

If you are focused in negative emotions, you simply cannot see clearly or objectively. Your perception, that is…what you see, is not operating in a healthy way.  Your good feelings cannot get through.  It’s very easy for negative emotions and actions to happen quickly if a combination of negative feelings is involved.

The following factors should be written down on a card, or printed, and the card posted in a prominent place so you will see it each day.  Start now, and go through this list methodically each day to help yourself to restore your own clear perception.

Fear, anger, and sadness can block positive help.

~Clear My Perception~

1.   Have you been eating regularly?  Prepare yourself a meal of something healthy, nourishing, and containing protein…avoid fast food, sugar, caffeine, and alcohol. Try to eat at regular mealtimes.

2.   Have you slept regularly?  Take steps to get a sound night’s sleep.  Contact a doctor for help if you have not been sleeping, and get a physical checkup.

3.   Have you taken vitamins or supplements to help you cope with your stress and overwhelm?  A good multiple vitamin, an extra B complex vitamin, an extra C vitamin, an L-Theanine, are all recommended, and can help you feel less stressed within hours if you are depleted.  Ask your doctor, health consultant, or pharmacist for help.

4.   Have you changed your medications?  Make sure you have not discontinued or begun some medication which is affecting you negatively.

5.   Have you lost a loved one or a dream?  Make an appointment to see a therapist as quickly as possible. Make sure that you find someone who is sincerely trying to help you get better, ask friends for recommendations, and check out the therapist’s rating.  Tell the therapist how you feel.  Talk to a friend in the meantime.  Stop playing those lonely games, and reach out to someone to help you.

6.   Do you have addictions which are influencing your thinking?  Talk to a doctor or a therapist about what you are taking, and get advice for help.

7.   Have you had or made any sudden changes in your life?  Do you have hope for the future?  Start a journal of writing what you are feeling and where you feel it.

Any one of these factors could be affecting your perception.  Begin today and continue each day to fulfill each of these areas of your life.  Every area is important.  Make sure you do your part to accomplish what is needed to heal and balance all of these areas of life.

While you are accomplishing the Clear My Perception factors, here are some other steps you can begin taking to help yourself:

1.   Talk to someone…an old friend, a new friend, a counselor, a helpline, a spiritual center…someone you know to be loving and strong.  Be honest with them.

2.   Go within to what you believe spiritually, or have believed before, and ask for help from God, your angels, your loved ones who have passed…talk aloud to someone and ask for help, even if you have never done this before.

3.   Start writing…create a journal, and begin writing about anything you are grateful for, anyone you love, anything you have always wanted to do.  When you focus on anything positive, your brain actually perceives differently….you can help heal yourself by spending a few minutes in positive thoughts.

4.   Recognize that you have been off track emotionally if you have been dwelling on what cannot be changed, something in your past.  Think about what kind of life you would want if you could start right now.  Find something good to think about…a person who loves you, a pet, something you have done for someone else, a dream of something in your future.

5.   You may have never gotten any help with some life experiences that require professional help.  Some of these are: childhood issues, abuse, guilt, fear, trauma, addiction.  Seek help now.  Therapy can change your perception and change your life.  There is a reason for therapy being so popular.  A great majority of people you know have sought therapy.  Seek help now and begin healing your wounds.  Talk to your friends about who has helped them.

6.  Go to the Why Forgive page on this website, and follow the instructions.  Perhaps you will want to work on self forgiveness first.  We all regret things we have done…we all make mistakes.  In an ancient language, the Aramaic, the definition for sin was an archery term…Sin simply meant “missing the mark.”  It meant when we make mistakes, we correct our aim, and try again.

There is nothing more healing than forgiving.

If you are in any type of pain, learn to forgive.

You Have a Purpose

As a friend, I would like for you to lighten up and hear this message:
Every one of us has a reason to be here.  Every one of us…that includes you and me.  None of us is here by accident.  Perhaps the most important reason we are here is to learn something which fits into what we bring as our life purpose to this earth.  Each one of us learns from so many sources, which also means we learn from the pain we experience…every one of us.  Sometimes we learn so much from our own pain, we learn to help others. That may be the purpose you are here for, as it is with so many other people.

What if you, who feels like giving up, is almost ready to do something wonderful in the world…what if you miss that?  There is no greater worth than being able to share something which helps others.

What are you here for?  It may feel at this moment that you are worthless, but nothing happens by accident in this wonderful, loving, instructive world.  Some of us get some of the lessons in the pain we go through, some of us give up, some of us make changes so we don’t have to continue to suffer, others keep doing the same things over and over, and expecting change to happen to us.  Which are you?

What are your talents, your gifts, your interests?  Do you know you bring something totally unique to this world? Let that land in you.  You have gifts to bring which are totally your own unique gifts. There is no one on earth, living or not, with the same unique combination that makes you who you are.  You alone can share your unique gifts with the world.

The great tenor, Andrea Bocelli, blind since birth, once said something I have totally come to believe since I began understanding my own life purpose.  He said, “I came to believe that if you have a gift, you have an obligation to share it with others.”

Only One You

Vow to keep pushing on through your pain until you deliver your gifts to the world.

The great dancer, Martha Graham, said this about your unique gifts, “There is a vitality, a life force, an energy, a quickening, that is translated through you into action.  And because there is only one you in all time, this expression is unique.  And if you block it, it will never exist in another medium, the world will not have it.  It is not your business to determine how good it is, nor how valuable, nor how it compares with other expressions.  It is your business to keep it yours, clearly and directly, to keep the channel open.”

You are important to your world, to everyone and everything around you whose lives you touch, even if you feel right now your life is not worth living.

There are people around you whom you can inspire, whom you can encourage, whom you can mentor, whom you can teach, whom you can friend, whom you can share with, whom you can love…you have to be willing.

I often tell people who feel alone to go out today, and begin to volunteer with others. You will likely make lifelong friends of those you help, and friends of those who are also volunteering, because when you help others, you’ll meet other giving people.

Only you have the power to make the conscious choice and connection which will change your consciousness, and in changing it, will change all that you bring to the world, and all you receive from it.

I hope you are really listening to the truth of what I’m telling you about your worth.

You are important to this planet…you are important to others and to yourself, even if you do not see this now.

Make a joy choice today to love yourself, to love others, and to love the creative spirit of this Universe unconditionally.  You can do this.

Life is worth living.

Your life can be a great blessing.
